Using Red Light Therapy for Treating Injuries Like Bee Stings
Everyday bites, burns, bruises and stings can really be a pain, literally!! Unless it's a more serious condition or reaction requiring medical attention, we typically treat at home. Red light therapy for treating injuries involves using specific wavelengths of red light to stimulate cellular repair and reduce inflammation, promoting faster healing and recovery from injuries.
So let's talk about bee stings for a moment. They hurt! There I said it, as a grown adult, gosh darn it they hurt a lot! Along with the pain, there is often times swelling, burning and itchiness. It's no fun at all! We all react differently, but in my case, it typically gets a bit worse over the next 24-48 hours. Well, I was stung by a bee while picking blueberries yesterday and I was unable to flick out the stinger with my usual finger flicking method. We were in a field so the stinger stayed in for about 10 minutes until we could get to a place where it could be safely removed. I was pretty worried that I would have a major reaction.
After removing the stinger, cleaning and icing, I put the Light Therapy Resource Mini Tabletop Panel (new product releasing May 1!) to work for 15 minutes. Red light therapy tor treating injuries has been proven to reduce pain and inflammation so this is a natural choice to promote healing. I was amazed by the immediate reduction in swelling and most importantly, no more itching and pain! The first image was taken right before light therapy, the second image was taken right after. I woke up the next day with zero pain, itching and in fact I forgot all about it until I sat down to write this blog. Another win for light therapy! It totally makes sense, light therapy has been scientifically proven to reduce pain and inflammation, but it's still so exciting to experience it first hand!!
