Which is better for Light Therapy...Laser or LED?

by Sandra Burkhart

LED vs. Laser Therapy: Which is Better?

Light emitted from a laser does not spread out, but stays tightly collimated (coherent). Shine a laser at a distant wall in a dark room and the light will stay highly focused – resulting in a pinpoint of light on the wall. All of the particles are traveling in a straight line and do not spread out.
Shine an incoherent light at that same wall and the beam spreads out. If a bright flashlight with an incandescent or LED bulb is directed toward a distant wall in a dark room, the beam projected upon the wall will diffuse and widely spread out.
So…which is better??
The answer is neither! Ongoing research has determined that living tissue responds to either coherent or incoherent light equally. It is the color (wavelength) and pulse (frequency) that determines its response so don’t listen to all of the marketing hype about one being better than the other! Go with what you can afford and what works best for you because they are both highly effective!
